Cloud computing has taken the world by storm. Post Covid-19 crisis cloud spending is projected to go up to 14.2% of the total global enterprise IT spending market in 2024, which was 9.1% in 2020. More and more organizations are adapting or moving their IT operations onto cloud in order to save costs, bring in more efficient use of resources, eliminate redundant manual tasks , centralized management of security and compliance to regulations world over and so on.

History of Oracle Cloud
In October 2016 Oracle Cloud infrastructure was made publicly available under the name “Oracle Bare Metal Cloud Services. Oracle Bare Metal Cloud Services was rebranded as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in 2018 and called Oracle’s “Generation 2 Cloud” at Oracle OpenWorld 2018.
What is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) ?
The cloud computing services offered by Oracle Corporation is known as Oracle cloud. It provides storage services, servers, networks etc. Each cloud is deployed in a region wherein each region has three availability domains which are fault tolerant and independent in nature. There are independent data canters inside each of these availability domains that are isolated at network level as well as from power management perspective.
The platform provided by Oracle is compatible with a large number of open-source applications such as Hadoop, Kubernetes etc and open standards like HTML5, SQL. Oracle cloud can be deployed in three models – private cloud, public cloud and hybrid cloud. Oracle Cloud delivers Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS).

Oracle Cloud Prerequisites and ID Creation
- Requires to have an Oracle ID
- Knowledge of using a web dashboard
To create Oracle free trial account, follow below steps :
Step 1: Go to the Oracle Cloud Home Page Click here
On the top right corner View Account > Sign Up for Free Tier
Step 2: You will be directed to page below, click on Start for Free
Step 3- You will then be redirected to the page
Fill out all the mandatory information like Cloud account name, Country and Email Address, and verify your email address. Post verification a link will be sent to your email id for verification.
Step 4: Open the link sent on your email ID and then enter other mandatory fields of password cloud account name and home region
Step 6: Enter your Mobile Number and click on Text me code to get a verification code on number
Enter the Verification Code received on your phone no and click on Verify my code
Step 7 – For Payment Verification click on Add Payment Verification Method
Click on add Credit Card
Enter address and credit card details
Step 8 – Add credit Card Detail Page, verify details for Credit Card
Step 9- Click submit for a new Oracle Cloud account.
Your cloud account is created and you receive a welcome email with your sign-in credentials for My Services. You can sign in to your account. You’ll receive another email after all the services are provisioned and are ready to use.
